BIJOUX
Bijoux is a series of twelve beetle paintings, each based on real species but filtered through a more personal, ornamental lens. The title means “jewels” in French - a nod to their intricate forms, shifting colors, and the way they feel both precious and overlooked.
Every beetle in the series was painted by hand over the course of many hours - some taking close to 80. That extended focus created space for a deeper kind of noticing: the slight tilt of a leg, how light moves across a shell, or the uneven symmetry that gives each insect its character.
The series is displayed in a custom-built box frame, inspired by the format of entomology drawers. I wanted the presentation to feel archival, but also intimate - something between a museum specimen and a keepsake.
